Service-Learning in a Fragile World: Universities Nourishing Peace and Hope

The 6th Uniservitate Global Symposium will take place on 6–7 November 2025 under the theme “Service-Learning in a Fragile World: Universities Nourishing Peace and Hope.” This international event will bring together representatives of Catholic universities, researchers, and practitioners engaged in promoting service-learning as a path toward educational and social transformation.

The symposium will feature plenary sessions, research presentations, and workshops exploring the role of universities in building peace and strengthening social cohesion. It forms part of the Global Compact on Education, encouraging institutions to unite thought, commitment, and action in the service of the common good.

Hosted by the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt — a member of the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU) since 1975 — the event underscores the university’s long-standing commitment to academic excellence and social engagement.

The International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU) is collaborating in this edition and is represented in the program by Dr. Montserrat Alom, Director of CIRAD – the IFCU’s International Center for Research and Decision Support – who will take part in the session “Student and Alumni Impact and Transnational Networks in Service-Learning.” In addition, Rev. Francisco Ramírez Yáñez, President of the IFCU for the 2025–2028 term, will be a special guest at the Rectors’ Meeting.

This representation illustrates the Federation’s continued engagement in promoting social responsibility, dialogue, and innovation within Catholic higher education worldwide, and its active contribution to strengthening global collaboration across the Uniservitate network.
